EHN.org is an independent, reader- and foundation-funded news site that reports, publishes and curates journalism on environmental topics. We bring national attention and expertise to regional environmental health issues, raising awareness, spurring public literacy, and moving the needle locally on key issues involving our health and environment.
We are expanding this environmental news to reach to Spanish-speaking audiences via our EHN en Español initiative, which combines original reporting and aggregated environmental news in Spanish.
We seek a bilingual, Spanish-speaking (and preferably Spanish-writing) intern for the summer of 2022 to work with our team reporting on environmental health issues and increasing engagement with our growing EHN en Español audience.
The ideal candidate: Someone relentlessly curious who enjoys research, reporting, problem solving, and finding innovative ways to build a meaningful online community; a communicator passionate about science, environmental justice, and making positive change.
Successful candidates will possess an entrepreneurial spirit, an ability to work efficiently and independently and collaborate in a high-tempo environment, and a passion for action and justice. Multimedia storytelling skills, data visualization experience, and social media savvy are highly desirable. Familiarity with audience engagement strategies and experience developing and managing marketing campaigns are also a big plus. Ideally you will be pursuing a career in journalism, communications, or marketing. We’ll consider both undergraduate and graduate-level candidates.
This is a paid internship ($15/hour) that will last for approximately 12 weeks, starting in June. It requires approximately 20 hours of work per week. The internship is remote; however, we meet and work on Slack and Zoom daily.
